The human brain has a right and left hemisphere of the cerebral cortex. We are at our optimal mental capacity when both sides are functioning together. Each hemisphere is specialized to direct certain tasks. The two hemispheres, called the right hemisphere and the left hemisphere, are better known to the layperson as the "right brain" and the "left brain."
Because of dominant personality characteristics humans were labeled either right or left brained. Although no one "perfectly" fits the right-side/left-side personality, they are likely to show one or more traits of either one or the other's dominance. Generally speaking, if a person is right handed, they are more likely to have dominate traits ruled by the left side of the brain probably are more detail-oriented, less emotional, decisive, better at arithmetic and writing skills, comprehension and speech. Logic is also a function of the left brain, which is more linear in thinking patterns, rational and analytic. It manages step-by-step problem solving. This is where sequencing is managed as well as keeping track of time. The right brain is responsible for controlling spatial ability. This hemisphere is more intuitive, forming conclusions based on patterns that may not be complete and making decisions based on feeling, hunches and visual perceptions. It allows for seeing things as a whole and identifying overall patterns. It is not dependent upon facts or reason as a basis for drawing conclusions.
Research has shown that the right side of the brain regulates artistic activities such as painting, music, theatre, dance, etc. Right-brained people are better able to work with the imagination to develop creative solutions to problems. They are generally spontaneous individuals who respond emotionally to circumstances. And, they have a way of creating art out of thin air. They are the type of people who see all the colors of the rainbow, can distinguish the scents of blossoms in the air, and dream in color. When a person is Right Brain Dominant, they are thought of as the creators, the artists, and the musicians of the world. Just because they are not as good with numbers and remembering facts does not mean that they are "dumber" than a left brain person. They just have their strength in different areas. Right brained people use their active imagination to carry them through the good and bad times in life and they are better able to empathize with individuals less fortunate. Imagination allows for visualization of the circumstances of others. The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility. Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way. They are the dreamers, those who look not at the world and ask “why?” but instead look at the world, imagine and say “why not…”

We know something is right. We don't feel lop-sided. We sense that we are a little more even, and that is very good. i know this from my own personal experience.
