Basically I am a figure painter and I spend I lot f time observing and sketching people.
My work is inspired by everyday happenings especially around women. In my work I try to reflect a more positive side to life, though there are many challenges.
Unless there is a strong subject that needs to be tackled I will try to represent it in as strong painting as possible
In my work the whole process and layers are visible to the keen connoisseur.
Light and shadows play a strong part together with the poses and a little bit of exaggeration in some of the human figures
I have lately been working with acrylics on canvas, but I also work with charcoal, oils and pastels.
I am currently experimenting with wall sculpture made from rusty iron sheets
The first ones came from houses that were burnt during the 2007/ 2008 election violence now I also use sheets came from the frequent fires that happen in slums or informal areas. bring them back to life as art works.
I am 4th in a family of 7 children.
I was born in Nairobi 1969 and attended schools both in Nairobi and Mombasa.
i attended the kenya polytechnic and did grahic design
